October Message from our President
Updated: Oct 8, 2018
Everything you want to know about what we've done and what's in the near future.

We kicked off September with two active fundraisers: the Clothing Drive on the 22nd and the HUGE Yard sale on the 29th, both big successes! Many thanks to Cathy Hirschhorn who coordinated the summer pick-ups from the Thrift Shop and the many volunteers that helped pick up all the bags, stored the bags and helped to load the truck. After many weeks of collecting items and then an intense few days before the Yard sale of pricing and sorting, the Naugles finally have their porch and garage back to normal! Many thanks to Jean and her family and the many volunteers that gave of their time to price, advertise, make signs and post them, sort and help the day of the sale. There was a great turn out of the College Club members helping and supporting both events. More details will be provided in the respective reports, but the two fundraisers brought in a total of approximately $2800.00. What a great way to start off the year, a great way to show us what a great group of ladies we have and how working together, we can accomplish FANTASTIC results!
I want to highlight the Volunteer of the Year, our own Calendar Girl - Mari McDevitt! If you missed my rendition of Neil Sedaka’s song “Calendar Girl”, all I can say is We Love our Calendar Girl who has year in and year out worked all summer long to coordinate the preparation and production of this annual fundraiser that brings in ~$10,000.00. Mari also follows up with the advertisers, gathers her helpers to proof and get the printing done. Please join me in thanking Mari for all her efforts!
Our next big event is College Night on October 30th. Please help out with the upcoming event. Sign-up sheets to donate food or your time the day of the event will be circulating at the General meeting or you can call Sue Spirko. We should be very proud that we organize and support this activity for our Community, helping local students and parents get information to help with the daunting process of deciding on colleges. See you on October 22nd at the Fanwood Presbyterian Church. Please invite your friends and family for an interesting program on Genealogy; please arrive before 7:30 pm so we can start the program on time.
